Hamster Madness
My little hammy is so reclusive. I barely see him during the day and when I go to wake him for some snuggling he generally looks annoyed and irritated with me for disturbing his meditation...
You see my hammy is the reincarnation of a Buddha, he sits indian style, very still as if contemplating the world around him. He is very peaceful and quite old in hammy terms. Marble is somewhere around 3 years old. My baby boy, now go save the world.

My home
Ok, I am a bit slow on the posting recently. A lot of things have been going on here at the rodent apartment. I have re-arranged the rooms in which the babies occupy to make sure everyone is in the best spot for temperature and social interaction.
The hedgehogs are best kept in the kitchen, the warmest and darkest spot in the place. The mice are kept in the living room next to the couch for much needed human interaction. The guinea pig is also in the living room with the door to his cage always kept open so as not to feel in-prisoned and allow for easy access to mom and dad. The hamster is kept in the middle between the bedroom and the living room as to allow him peace and quiet with mild interaction, he can be testy if his nap is disturbed. Anyway I took some photos of the new arrangement,

Heres my babies, Moo-latte, Beat and Smokey.

Snake and hamster sharing enclosure in Japanese zoo
Aochan, the snake 'seems to enjoy' being with Gohan, the hamster
A rodent-eating snake and a hamster have developed an unusual bond at a zoo in the Japanese capital, Tokyo.

Their relationship began in October last year, when zookeepers presented the hamster to the snake as a meal.

The rat snake, however, refused to eat the rodent. The two now share a cage, and the hamster sometimes falls asleep sitting on top of his natural foe.

"I have never seen anything like it," a zookeeper at the Mutsugoro Okoku zoo told the Associated Press News agency.

The hamster was initially offered to Aochan, the two-year-old rat snake, because it was refusing to eat frozen mice.

As a joke, the zookeeper said they named the hamster Gohan - the Japanese word for meal.

"I don't think there's any danger. Aochan seems to enjoy Gohan's company very much," said zookeeper Kazuya Yamamoto.

The apparent friendship between the snake and hamster is one of many reported bonds spanning the divide between predator and prey.
